congratulations to Hallie Goetz, who recently
completed her judge certification with the ISG.

The NASS Breeding Committee has been working
on updating the
NASS Guidelines for Shagya Breeding
and now we are posting the updated Draft on this
website for 6 weeks (until
APRIL 16th) so that NASS members can give
feedback to the BOD at
NASS@Shagya.net
A Summary of Major Changes:
1) We are suggesting expanding the criteria for
registration for both Part-Shagya-Arabians and
Part-Shagyas, so that now these Registries will
include offspring of Part-Shagya-Arabians and
Part-Shagyas, whereas currently only offspring
of one Purebred Shagya-Arabian have been
eligible. For example if
you have a Part-Shagya-Arabian mare and want to
breed her to a stallion of another breed, the
offspring will be eligible for registration in
NASS as a Part-Shagya. Or, if you want to breed
this Part-Shagya-Arabian mare to a purebred
Arabian stallion or a Part-Shagya-Arabian
stallion, this offspring will be eligible for
registration in NASS as a Part-Shagya-Arabian.
2) In order to come in alignment with the ISG
General Studbook Regulations passed by the ISG
in 2007, we also propose making two changes to
our Studbook Regulations for Purebred
Shagya-Arabians and Shagya-Arabians: a)
Purebred Arabian mares will be eligible to be
presented for breeding approval for Shagya
breeding. b) Shagya-Arabians and Part-Shagya-Arabians
who are inspected but do not meet the standards
to be in the main Purebred Shagya Arabian
Studbook and its Appendixes (Studbook I and
Studbook I Appendix) will now be entered into a
separate division of the Studbook which will be
known as "Studbook II and Mare Book II", and
corresponding appendixes. Consequently, all
eligible horses which are presented for breeding
approval will be listed in either Books I or
Book II, depending upon the results of their
inspections and performance tests.
